What is the Data Space?

Data space is a federated structure that enables trusted data sharing in a way that preserves the data sovereignty of participants based on a standard governance framework. Data spaces can be purpose- or sector-specific, or cross-sectoral.Fraunhofer ISST

I would like to start my article by announcing that our Public Sector Data Space Project, coordinated by the Digital Transformation Office and in collaboration with the Turkish Statistical Institute, has been selected for the “Role of Government as a Data Provider for Artificial Intelligence” initiative. This initiative, led by Oxford Insights, Global Partnership on AI (GPAI), and Montreal International Center of Expertise in Artificial Intelligence (CEIMIA), aims to leverage government data to develop AI. While our pilot studies continue, we have reviewed secure and reliable data sharing between public institutions and organizations under the main headings of stock take, sector, use case, mechanism, management, and governance with a “ready, where, and how” approach. Thus, let me make an exciting introduction to my article.

Having previously explored the data governance topics of Data Fabric and Data Mesh, along with the tools that facilitate their implementation, I’m excited to introduce the concept of the Data Space!
